Countdown to Christmas...

December has been a pretty hectic month. I’ve been juggling Uni essays and deadlines with sessions in the studio to try and get the recording of my next single ready for release.  This was my first time using studio equipment and producing myself and it was a steep learning curve. I got frustrated, I got stressed, but I got there in the end. I’m so glad I got the song finished in time for a few deadlines – to have a new song ready before 2019 was out, before I go to Switzerland for a Christmas visit and to have a 6 week pre-launch period before I head off to Holland at the start of February.

As well as the song, I am lucky enough to have received some funding from the Create Scotland Time to Shine fund to film a music video and I also really wanted to get that finished before I went away. The song is a little edgy and a little angry so I wanted a suitable back drop for that. After performing at the Tobacco Warehouse for the Sonica festival in November, I decided it would make a suitably dramatic setting for a video shoot. I asked Emma of BatanEye Productions, who has done some photography for me before, to film the video and we headed down one cold, wet Wednesday night to get the job done.  It’s quite a simple concept but Emma has done a fantastic job. I’ll be releasing the video early next year, shortly after the single comes out.

Time to Shine deserve a mention for their understanding. They originally granted me the funds over a year ago but allowed me time to take a mental health break and let me retain the funding until I was ready to be in front of the camera again.

I start a term of study in Tilburg, near Amsterdam, in February and plan to try and get most of the work done on my CHEF funded song for Paisley in between returning from Switzerland and going to Holland. I also have my single launch/ send-off/ birthday gig at CCs in Paisley on 31st January   and really hope I get to catch up with some friends and supporters there.

With all this to do and to plan, I am really looking forward to 10 days in Switzerland, mainly because my favourite dog in the world, Lucy, lives there. I haven’t seen her since the summer and can’t wait to be reunited.
