Ok. what's been happening ?

Autumn 2019 News

Summer 2019 was pretty busy, I played some festival gigs and had a little run of wedding performances, which meant learning a lot of covers of love songs.  It was fun, but gave me less time to work on my own material. I had a lovely time, despite the worse sunburn ever, on a holiday in Switzerland and wrote a happy little song called Swiss Summers about the experience, which has an early Taylor Swift vibe. I’m heading back to Switzerland for Christmas and New Year so am working on an idea for a follow up, perhaps my first Christmas song!

Having started a degree in Commercial Music at University of the West of Scotland (UWS), I am slowing down live performances to a smaller number of more select gigs. My priorities for the next few months will be getting used to the routine of studying and lectures but also writing and releasing new material. My last single was released in November 2018 and it’s been too long !

I was chatting with my sister the other day about the concept of seasonal songs, all those Spotify playlists called Acoustic Autumn, Summer song’s etc and decided that my next single release is an Autumn song. It’s my first seriously angry song, which makes me think of the autumnal colours red and orange. The song is about not wasting any more time and casting something out of my life, like the trees shedding their leaves.

I’m putting the track together in the studio at the moment with the help of the amazing F32 Records and planning the artwork. Releasing a single needs serious planning of course so I don’t think it will be out until December. There will be a video too, thanks to a grant from Creative Scotland’s Time to Shine fund. I applied for and was awarded the grant over a year ago and they’ve been kind enough for let me retain it during my mental health break until I was ready to record and release again.

There’s a big story behind the next song I’ll be bringing out, which I’ll be sharing soon. Rest assured it won’t be an angry one, as I’m pretty happy with my life just now!

Thanks for reading

Lisa x
